Why you should never wear camouflage when metal detecting

Rel+Mil, February 2, 2018March 27, 2018

Starting from this is why I don’t (ussualy) wear camo when metal detecting: Why wear camo if you don’t have anything to hide? Maybe in your country you must ask permission to enter somebody’s land and dig, or you go in a natural park or reservation. If you’re dressed for…

Jassy – Kishinev Offensive area 1944 – Part 2 – Sherman Tank Lid & Shells

Rel+Mil, December 7, 2017August 14, 2025

Well, you don’t find a Sherman tank lid every day 😀 Especialy, after calling it a day and heading to the car with the detector still on and the guy in front of you switches his off. In spring/summer 1944 the Jassy – Targul Frumos area “hosted” one of the…

Rel+Mil, December 7, 2017August 14, 2025

Got the chance to go and dig in the Jassy area where, in 1944, the Red Army tried in the sping and succeded in autumn to break the Axis front. Lots of interesting personal stuff, and check out the Sherman Tank lid I found near Jassy.

The Vulgar Virgin – B24 shot down near Ploiesti during 1st Tidal Wave

Rel+Mil, December 7, 2017August 14, 2025

In one of my outings, some friends form Ploiesti took me to a crash site of a Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber, shot down during the first Tidal Wave, on August, 1st, 1943. Most likely (based on archives and books) it’s the place where “The Vulgar Virgin” had it’s last moments.

Rel+Mil, July 26, 2017August 14, 2025

In my trip to Stockholm (autumn 2016) I’ve visited a small militaria shop – Antik & Militaria Compagniet. Very, very nice owner, had a long chat with him and found out great stuff about the militaria market in Sweden. Lots of stuff from both wars and also pre 1900 stuff…
