Raupenschlepper Ost sprocket wheel found under a chicken den

When you go to visit your relatives near the Moldavian border and you come back with an extra passenger. Came back yesterday from a trip to my cousin’s grandparents in an area near the Pruth where in August ’44 some fierce battles took place between the German soldiers that were retreating to the Carpatian Montains and the Red Army. Beside lots of info about the area I also had the chance to bring home a Raupenschlepper Ost sprocket wheel that was under a chickend den for the last 30 years or so… Massive wear on it and with 2 broken teeth it sure seen some hard days… In a picture you will see some Wehrmacht soldiers in Jassy on top of such a cool vehicle. Started cleaning the sprocket wheel and, amazingly, it has lots of that nice Wehrmacht bluish grey on it and also some visible stampings.
