Metal Detecting in the Prahova Valley – Azuga
Romania had it’s fair share of World War One battles in Autumn 1916, when entered the war beside the Antante to unify it’s territories with Transylvania that was rulled by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After the easy march to Brasov and Sibiu, the shit got serious when reinforcements were brought to the area and fought the Romanian Army back to it’s old border. Valea Prahovei being the shortest and easiest way to get to Bucharest, was the place were some fierce battles took place.
The first place I’ve seen stuff about metal detecting was on the Romanian Military Archeology – RMA page and most of their first pictures were of finds from the Prahova Valley – Predeal and Azuga. Searching Google Maps and Earth, trenches were still visible and there was the place I first went to metal detect. Scroll down to see some of the things I found or visit their page to see what cool stuff they found.
Sorry to see others leave holes like these …
